2. Cleanse with saline solution: Use a saline solution recommended by your piercer or a healthcare professional to clean your piercing. Avoid using harsh cleansers, alcohol, hydrogen peroxide, or ointments, as they can irritate the piercing.
3. Avoid touching the piercing: Refrain from touching your piercing with dirty hands to prevent introducing bacteria. If you need to clean or adjust the jewelry, make sure to wash your hands thoroughly first.
4. Be gentle during cleaning: When cleaning your piercing, use a cotton swab or clean hands to gently remove any crust or debris around the piercing site. Avoid excessive rubbing or twisting of the jewelry.
5. Avoid changing jewelry too soon: Wait until your piercing is fully healed before changing the jewelry. Prematurely changing jewelry can cause irritation and disrupt the healing process.
6. Choose appropriate jewelry: Opt for high-quality jewelry made of materials such as surgical-grade stainless steel, titanium, or niobium. Avoid nickel or other materials that you may be allergic to.
7. Avoid excessive movement or trauma: Minimize activities that may cause trauma to the piercing, such as excessive twisting, pulling, or sleeping on the piercing. Be cautious when participating in sports or other physical activities.
8. Maintain good overall hygiene: Keep the area around the piercing clean and dry. Avoid using hair products, makeup, or lotions that can come into contact with the piercing.
